What is Beak Week? Goldsboro’s signature event. It is a poultry festival in Downtown Goldsboro.
Who is in charge of the event? A committee is in charge of the event. It is led by the City of Goldsboro. Organizations that are also in charge are the Arts Council, Travel & Tourism, Boys & Girls Club, Downtown Goldsboro Development, and Goldsboro Parks and Recreation.
What was the attendance in 2016? Our attendance was at 12,000.
What are the bands playing this year?  The Eastern Wayne Jazz band will kick the day off followed by this years headliner, The Justin West Band.
Will there be vendors? There will be food vendors, art booths, and information booths at the event.
What is KCBS? KCBS is the Kansas City Barbecue Society. They have sanctioned cook offs all over the country. The circuit is based on points. At the end of the season points are tallied for overall winners.
What can we expect from the KCBS – Beak Week BBQ Challenge? There will be 45 professional cook teams competing for $20,000. Cook teams will come from all over the east coast. They will turn in 4 categories of meat to be judged. They are chicken, ribs, pork, and brisket.
Can we try the cook team’s food? Unfortunately, the food will not be available to the public.
Is the event kid friendly? Yes! There will be booths and rides for kids. Some of the rides are bounce houses, slide, climbing wall, bungee trampoline, and more!
Are there any other events that week? Yes! There will be other events leading up to the festival. Some of the events will be wing eating contests, charity softball game, fun runs/walks and more!
